Project details
Our clients envisioned a kitchen and family room renovation that would revive the home’s original mid-century modern charm while creating a space functional for three generations of keen bakers. Originally built in the 1960s and last renovated in the 1990s, we restored this home to its true architectural roots: bright, modern, and beautifully connected.
To open up the space, we removed the stone fireplace wall that once divided the kitchen and living area, replaced the sunshine ceiling with two skylights, and introduced a flowing layout that connects the kitchen, dining, and outdoor spaces. Custom walnut-look cabinetry paired with sleek white fronts keeps the room balanced and inviting, while the large quartz island anchors the space as the family’s central gathering point. Thoughtful additions such as a pull-out mixer, pot filler, pop-up downdraft vent, and bespoke storage solutions ensure that both form and function are seamlessly integrated.
Track lighting along the exposed beams, sky blue backsplash tiles, and locally sourced flooring complement the home’s mid-century character while adding a fresh, contemporary feel. The Family Recipe Project celebrates connection, light, and craftsmanship, bringing the home back to its timeless roots and creating a warm, functional space built for family, creativity, and everyday living.
